INTERIM FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2017

Vassiliko Cement Works Public Company Ltd announces that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on 27 July 2017 has approved the Consolidated Interim Financial Statements of the Company for the first six months of 2017, a copy of which is attached herewith.

Please note that an extract of the Consolidated Interim Financial Statements for the first six months of 2017 will be published in the local press; hard copies will not be mailed to the shareholders.

Copies of the Consolidated Interim Financial Statements for the first six months of 2017 are available to the shareholders and the investors, at the Registered Offices of the Company, at 1A Kyriakos Matsis Avenue, “Koupadi” Building, 4th Floor, 1082 Nicosia.

Furthermore it is announced that the General Manager of the Company, Mr. George Sideris, will be retiring as from the 31st July 2017.  The management of the Company after Mr. George Sideris’ retirement is assigned to the Executive Chairman of the Company, Mr. Antonios Antoniou, with the support of three Deputy General Managers. As Deputy General Managers the Board appointed with effect as from the 1stof August 2017 Messrs Andreas Andreou, Georgios Savvas and Stelios Sykopetrides. The curricula vitae of the Deputy General Managers are presented below.

Andreas Theocleous Andreou – Manager of Strategic Development Projects

Andreas Theocleous Andreou was born in Nicosia in 1955. He graduated from the Pancyprian Gymnasium in 1973 and served as an Officer in the National Guard until 1975. He studied at the National Technical University of Athens in Mining and Metallurgy Engineering (1980). Ηe received a Diploma in Cement Technology from Holderbank Ltd Switzerland (1993).

He started his carrier at Τhe Asbestos Mines of Northern Greece Ltd (1981- 1988) as Mines Manager. In 1988 he moved to The Cyprus Asbestos Mines Ltd where he worked as the Production Manager until 1989. From 1989 to 1990 he served at J & P Overseas Ltd in Saudi Arabia as Section Engineer in the construction of the military base in Al Kharj. From 1990 to 2009 he moved to The Cyprus Cement Company Ltd where he worked as the Production Manager and in 2003 was promoted to General Manager of the Plant. From 2009, he worked as Manager of Subsidiaries & Associate Companies of the Vassiliko Cement Works Public Company Ltd and then held the post of Operations Manager until the end of 2016. He is currently Manager of the Strategic Development Projects Department of the Company.  He is a Member of the Board of Directors of Latouros Quarries Ltd and Elmeni (Quarries) Ltd since 2002.

From 1990 until 2012 he was a Member and Vice-Chairman of the Association of Geologists and Mining Engineers of Cyprus, a Member of the Mining Sector Committee and a member of the Limassol’s District Committee of the Scientific Technical Chamber of Cyprus.

George Savva – Chief Financial Officer

Mr. George Savva was born in Famagusta in 1970. He studied at the London South Bank University where he obtained his BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance. He continued further his studies to obtain his professional qualification as a Chartered Certified Accountant and he also became a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus.

Mr. G. Savva worked for four years at Deloitte in auditing and business consulting and he continued his career as internal auditor for another two years.

As from January 2001 he has been the Chief Financial Officer of Vassiliko Cement Works Public Company Ltd.

Stelios Sykopetrides - Operations Manager 

Mr. Stelios Sykopetrides was born in Limassol on January 1964. He holds a BEng (Hons), Meng (d.) and MSc Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Combustion & Energy Engineering. He completed his studies at Portsmouth, Hertfordshire and Leeds Universities (UK). Further to that he holds an MBA (distinction) with concentrations at Technology and Operations Management extended to Strategy and International Competitiveness from the Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM). He was awarded the special recognition prize for achieving the highest GPA in his Graduate year.

Since 1987 as an apprentice and 1988 as a full time employee he has been working at Vassiliko Cement Works Public Company Ltd from a variety of technical and managerial positions.  As from January 2017 he holds the post of Operations Manager of the Company’s plant.
