Career Guidance Workshops for upper secondary school students in Engineering by Vassiliko Cement Works

Vassiliko Cement Works organizes one-day workshops on career guidance, in the sector of Engineering for Upper Secondary School and Technical Schools’ students, in cooperation with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) and the Career Counselling & Educational Service of the Ministry of Education & Culture. The one-day workshops were held at Vassiliko Cement Works facilities and the company’s engineers of various specialties and ETEK representatives were the speakers.

The workshops aimed at informing students about Engineering-related professions, in order to familiarize them with the particularities of this sector.

In November 2018, three one-day workshops were held, by inviting 79 students from the districts of Larnaca and Famagusta, while three more are organized in February 2019 for the districts of Limassol and Pafos.

A tour to the plant premises follows, once engineers’ presentations (mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, chemical engineers etc.) finish, and this helps students to better understand how engineering professions are within a heavy industry.

As a socially responsible company, Vassiliko Cement Works recognizes the needs of young people and supports the local community, by taking innovative initiatives.
